Hi, I’m Jelena and I like to tell stories. In my eyes they are mirrors of reality. They take us on journeys, show us what we need to see and inspire thoughts that can grow into real actions. For me, this is where the potential of design lies.

Elisabeth Selbert: A strong voice for legal equality in Germany

We created an animated film portraying Elisabeth Selbert, a trailblazer for gender equality in post-World War II Germany. Her remarkable efforts resulted in the inclusion of Article 3, Paragraph 2 of the Basic Law, which determined equal rights for men and women. Despite the traditional gender roles of her time, Elisabeth pursued her education, studied law, and actively advocated for women’s rights in politics while raising two children. Facing opposition in the Parliamentary Council, it needed all of her unfaltering perseverance and determination to establish the sentence “Men and women have equal rights” as part of the German constitution of 1949. We were inspired by Elisabeth’s biography and persistence. Our aim is to raise awareness concerning her life and legacy. Through her story, we want to encourage others to follow in her footsteps. Even today, we must remain committed to promoting and practicing gender equality and advocate it with a “LOUD” voice.
